St. James’s Hotel & Club Mayfair in London, part of Althoff Collection, named Francesco Sardelli as general manager. Originally from Puglia, Sardelli moved to London in I989 where he started out as a room service waiter at Grosvenor House. With 30 years’ experience in the luxury hospitality industry, he worked his way up to general manager, most recently at The Kensington Hotel-Doyle Collection. He has also held management roles at other top London hotels including The Baglioni, Brown’s Hotel and The Stafford.
“I am delighted to be joining St. James’s Hotel & Club, a hotel steeped in history and with so much potential for further evolution,” Sardelli said. “There is exceptional dining at Michelin starred Seven Park Place by William Drabble, elegant design and spacious rooms and suites. The location too is exceptional, being in a quiet cul-de-sac but so close to Green Park and the glamour of Mayfair.’
Four Seasons Resort and Residences Los Cabos at Costa Palmas has appointed Sandra Oliva as its new General Manager. Sandra brings over a decade of international luxury experience to the award-winning Resort on the East Cape of Los Cabos, and a lifetime of passion for connecting with those around her.
As a French citizen born in Lima, Peru, with a multicultural background and fluency in Spanish, English, French and Italian, entering the world of hospitality and tourism was a natural fit for Sandra. After earning two graduate degrees – one in hotel and tourism management, the other in marketing – she headed for Paris where she began her first job as an events coordinator for an international hotel group.
With sights set on furthering her career in hospitality through Four Seasons, Sandra applied to Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues Geneva, where she landed a role as Events Manager. Later, her endeavours with the company took her to Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, A Four Seasons Hotel, followed by Four Seasons Hotel at The Surf Club, where she spearheaded sales and marketing at both.
Sandra briefly stepped away from hospitality in 2020 to co-direct the Louis Vuitton flagship store in Place Vendome back in Paris before stepping back into hospitality, this time on the operational side as Hotel Manager of Four Seasons Hotel Firenze. In 2023, the Americas called Sandra back where she served as Hotel Manager of Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia at Comcast Center.
Her General Manager appointment comes at a significant time as tourism in Los Cabos continues to rise year over year, with even more luxury hotels opening in the market – including the second Four Seasons resort on the other side of the Baja peninsula. Known for her energy, drive and enthusiasm, Sandra is well-positioned to harness the power of the market and lead Four Seasons Resort and Residences Los Cabos at Costa Palmas into its next chapter.
“It is an incredible honour to continue my Four Seasons career with a Resort that has been consistently recognized as one of the finest in the world,” says Oliva. “I could not be more thrilled to share this hidden gem of Los Cabos with our guests in the years to come.”
Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna Hotel in Austria, a part of hospitality group Minor Hotels, has appointed Jurgen Ammerstorfer as general manager, as of 7 January 2025. Ammerstorfer will oversee the property’s renovations, including the introduction of Anantara experiences, a focus on restaurant and bar offerings, and the launch of Anantara Spa.
He said: “I am thrilled to be joining the team at Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna Hotel as Vienna prepares to welcome a record number of visitors for the 200th birthday celebrations of Johann Strauss II. Taking the helm of this gem on Ringstrasse at a time when the beloved landmark is being infused with Anantara’s signature spirit of modern luxury is a priceless opportunity.”
Ammerstorfer previously served as general manager at The Ritz Carlton, Vienna, from 2020 to 2024.
