The Ritz-Carlton, Abama in Tenerife opens ‘The Retreat’: a new vip area of the hotel

The Ritz-Carlton, Abama is proud to present ‘The Retreat’, a new ‘resort within a resort’ surrounded by subtropical gardens that offers guests an experience of intimate luxury in a secluded setting. The Retreat is a new area of the hotel, featuring four avenues of two-storey “casitas”, with a total of 144 rooms and suites, all boasting breathtaking views of the lush gardens or Atlantic Ocean. Guests can enjoy four private swimming pools with designated areas for adults and families. The elegant suites offer the utmost in privacy and comfort, with nine of them featuring their own private pool.

Guests at The Retreat also enjoy a à la carte breakfast on the terrace of the Club, with breathtaking ocean views. Design Inspired by Tenerife's Natural Beauty

The Retreat's design draws inspiration from the tribal heritage of the Guanches, the ancient indigenous people of Tenerife. Its rooms and suites combine a contemporary and luxurious aesthetic with elements of the island's volcanic landscapes and lush gardens. Organic textures, natural materials and clean modern lines create an intimate and relaxing atmosphere with minimalist décor. The colour palette features earthy tones, with red and orange elements in the bedrooms adding grandeur, while touches of emerald green and toasted wood bring serenity to the lounge areas. This colour scheme enriches the visual experience and reflects The Retreat's refined luxury and deep connection to the island's natural beauty.

Designed by London-based Hirsch Bedner Associate, the  rooms and suites incorporate patterns that pay homage to the natural and cultural heritage of Tenerife, creating a deep connection to the local environment and history. Wardrobes and carpets feature motifs of banana leaves and tropical vegetation, while the artwork hanging on the walls is inspired by Guanche designs. Technology is seamlessly integrated into the guest experience, enhancing guest comfort through keyless, mobile entry systems and smart controls for lighting, temperature and entertainment.

Pools and Fitness Areas

The Retreat features four swimming pools in total, including a stunning outdoor infinity pool with panoramic ocean views. The three river-like pools are strategically located along each avenue of The Retreat. Guests also have access to an exclusive outdoor fitness area, equipped with state-of-the-art sports equipment and machines.

The Ritz-Carlton, Abama is located on the tranquil southwest coast of Tenerife, offering breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and the island of La Gomera. Set above lush tropical gardens on the cliff top, the resort provides direct access to Abama Beach. Its secluded setting offers a peaceful and relaxing getaway, while still being close to the island's vibrant cultural and natural attractions.
