Forte San Giorgio, a private Italian Fort situated on the little-known island of Capraia, is delighted to announce dates for the next Wildfitness Retreat in 2025 at the property, following a successful partnership this summer.

This secluded island escape, set in the Tuscan archipelago, sleeps 20, with incredible Mediterranean views and an authentic local cultural scene, and can be booked as part of a retreat or for private group hire.
Wildfitness is a UK-based retreat experience that runs courses in Somerset, Menorca and Capraia, based on three core principles: respecting the body's natural rhythms, healthy eating and a holistic approach to movement, using the local environment as a natural gym. The team runs several retreats over the year, staying at the Fort and taking full advantage of the island's unique natural character. In 2025, two seven-day courses will take place 17th-24th May and 24th-31st May, and can be combined for a full 14 day transformative course. The retreats include three-four movement sessions per day – such as lifting, yoga, hiking and breath work – and organic meals prepared by the fort chefs, along with educational workshops, posture and movement assessment and complimentary massage.
Single occupancy prices start from £2,975; double occupancy starts from £2,674. For more information please visit https://wildfitness.com/retreats/italy/.
Forte San Giorgio available for exclusive hire
For guests wanting a more private experience, Forte San Giorgio will once again be available for private group hire throughout the summer period from June to September. Accommodating 20 guests across 11 bedrooms, and having reopened in 2021 following extensive renovation and restoration, the fort is now a characterful island retreat, with a variety of drawing rooms, terraces for sunbathing and dining, two infinity pools, a games room for billiards and table tennis and a contemporary kitchen for entertaining.

The 'wild island' of Capraia is still relatively undiscovered, and makes for a perfect retreat from more crowded destinations in the summer months. While only around 50 people stay on the island in the winter season, summer months see the resident population grow to around 300 and a handful of small bars, restaurants, and seaside shacks, pop up in Porto and Paese, for guests to wander in and out of as their fancy takes, for a quick glass of wine or aperitivo. For those used to the crowded streets of Europe, the sleepy community of Capraia is a welcome respite, with a community served by just four policemen, two grocery stores, one school, and four fishermen.
Capraia was borne out of a volcano rising from the seabed, to which it owes its rocky and rugged landscape. The island still plays host to two volcanos, the eruptions of which have left it with a kaleidoscope of strikingly coloured rock foundations, which can be viewed on foot or by air. The island is centrally located in the Tuscan Archipelago National Park, which has become a much-praised conservation area, making it the ideal destination for nature enthusiasts, and meaning it is well protected both on land and sea, leading to incredible marine life in the surrounding ocean and unmatched landscapes and viewpoints from land, sea, and air.
A singularly individual property, Forte San Giorgio is the perfect destination for a group escape away from the crowds to reconnect with nature and community.
Prices are available on request. For booking enquiries visit www.fsgcapraia.com or follow @fsgcapraia on Instagram.

Situated in the heart of Chiang Mai city in Thailand’s mountainous north, Meliá Chiang Mai rounded out the list of 12 Thailand hotels and resorts and was the only property in Chiang Mai to make the cut.
Nominations for the Holidays with Kids 2024 Best Family Resorts Awards were open for 12 months and came from the magazine’s vast readership of more than 600,000 parents.
“The competition has been fierce, with so many kid-friendly resorts not just meeting expectations but smashing them. “We’ve got so much to offer the young and the young at heart including our Family Rooms with puzzles and board games, children’s tent, toys and more, and our vast kids and teens club with a program packed with activities such as Thai boxing, umbrella painting, and arts and craft with recycled materials,” he said. “Our large outdoor swimming pool with a shallow pool area for kids replete with two water slides, a rain curtain, water fountains and a giant tipping bucket is popular with families, and our hotel is a great base to explore Chiang Mai’s many attractions ranging from famed temple Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep to the Chiang Mai Night Safari and novel Elephant Poo Poo Paper Park.”

Mulia Bali drives sustainability through comprehensive efforts across all areas of operation, recycling, reusing, and composting materials from paper, glass, metal, tin, plastic, and rubber waste. This approach minimizes waste and creates a sustainable environment for guests and the local community.
These efforts align with broader sustainability goals in Indonesia. In 2023, the country achieved a 15% reduction in plastic waste and a 25% recycling rate in urban areas, reflecting nationwide improvements in waste management systems, as highlighted in the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Indonesia, 2023 Environmental Performance Report.
Key initiatives driving this success include:
Plastic-Free Commitment: Mulia Bali began the journey toward a plastic-free environment seven years ago. Today, all remaining plastic materials used are 100% recyclable. For instance, all bottled water undergoes full recycling after use, implementing biodegradable cassava-based plastic bags and biodegradable alternatives to replace straws. These actions reflect Indonesia's drive to reduce plastic waste and align with the country's progress in sustainable waste management, as outlined in the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Indonesia, 2023 National Waste Reduction Strategy Report.
Advanced Water Management: The resort employs a high-tech water treatment system with reverse osmosis that efficiently removes sediment, chlorine, and dissolved solids, ensuring high-quality water for room usage. The resort also processes wastewater through advanced water reclamation systems, contributing to a closed-loop system that minimizes water waste. Rainwater reservoirs supply water to maintain the gardens featuring local plant varieties, allowing for more energy-efficient landscape management. These initiatives contribute to the nation's progress toward Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6), as detailed in the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Indonesia 2023 SDG Progress Report.
EarthCheck Audit Participation: To enhance sustainable practices further, Mulia Bali actively participates in EarthCheck's environmental benchmarking audit and aligns its sustainability goals accordingly. This step shows the resort's commitment to achieving the highest standards in sustainability and contributing to Indonesia's efforts to reduce carbon emissions and promote green jobs in the sustainable tourism sector, as documented in the EarthCheck 2023 Annual Benchmarking and Certification Report.

With Indonesia reducing carbon emissions by 4% in 2023, as reported in the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Indonesia 2023 Climate Action Performance Report, the initiatives done by Mulia Bali, including advanced waste and water management systems, align with national climate action efforts (SDG 13). The resort enhances guest experiences while also supporting local and national sustainability agendas.
Mulia Bali takes meaningful steps toward a greener future. At this multi-award-winning resort, every guest experience celebrates the finest things in life while contributing to preserving the environment for future generations. The efforts to reduce landfill waste are not just a goal but a pledge to the community and the planet.
Looking ahead, Mulia Bali remains dedicated to further reducing landfill waste and setting new benchmarks in sustainable and eco-friendly tourism in Bali, Indonesia. With every visit, guests can enjoy a luxurious stay while making a conscientious choice for a sustainable future.
