Hotel Bauer in Venice, Italy acquired by Mohari Hospitality
Mohari Hospitality (“Mohari”) today announced the acquisition of the Bauer Hotel in Venice, Italy. The acquisition of this iconic property is a significant addition to Mohari’s growing European portfolio, underscoring its commitment to building a collection of luxury properties with irreplaceable heritage and unique cultural resonance. Previous owner, Signa Group, had signed a management agreement with Rosewood Hotels, which will operate the property. Mohari has made this latest acquisition alongside its strategic partner in Europe, Omnam Investment Group, a real estate investment and development group specializing in high-end, transformative hospitality with over a decade of experience in Italy and Europe, investing and developing historic and complex projects. The Bauer Hotel is located in the heart of Venice and considered one of the city’s architectural treasures, embodying late 19th-century Venetian medieval mannerism. The property is positioned on the Grand Canal in the historic San Marco district, just steps from the world-renowned Piazza San Marco. With a focus on driving positive change and reducing carbon emissions, KSL Resorts has partnered with Evertreen – a pioneering platform facilitating online tree planting and tracking – to plant more than 1,300 trees in Kenya, helping to restore the area’s delicate ecosystem while generating jobs for local youth. According to Ian Pullan, SVP of Asset Management, by planting trees, KSL and Evertreen are joining forces to contribute to environmental sustainability, while supporting the local economy. As part of our On Purpose sustainability program, for Earth Day this year we pledged to plant one tree for each reservation made that day at our portfolio of hotels and resorts, Pullan said. With the support of Evertreen, which sponsors tree planting throughout the world, we were able to plant 1,331 trees in the mangroves of Kenya – a coastal area severely impacted by deforestation. Planting trees helps mitigate the impact of global climate change while supporting biodiversity and providing a tremendous source of cleaner air. Although these trees are planted in Kenya, their impact is global. In this case, the trees planted can absorb up to 380 kgs of carbon dioxide per tree. KSL Resorts & Evertreen  KSL Resorts initially embarked on a partnership with Evertreen in 2023 and to date has planted 5,000 trees – absorbing 750 tons of carbon dioxide and generating 625 working hours in Kenya. Sam Nazarian and SBE have launched a new lifestyle hospitality brand named Project HQ, supported by a strategic alliance with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. The launch comes following strategic investment from entrepreneur Marc Anthony and his company Magnus. The first hotels in HQ’s brand portfolio will be based in Montreux, Switzerland and Detroit, Michigan. The brand will focus on savvy Millennial and Gen Z travellers through a unique blend of cultural and lifestyle elements.  The first property, HQ Montreux Hotel & Spa, is set to open in 2025, following transformation of the existing Royal Plaza & Villa Toscane, originally constructed in 1905 by Swiss architect Louis Villard. Two signature restaurants will find home at the property, courtesy of SBE’s Disruptive Restaurant Group, while a lobby cocktail bar and on-site coffee shop will also be available. Additional amenities will include a spa and fitness centre, along with significant events and meeting space.  The next opening, HQ Detroit Hotel & Spa, will be the first US-based property for the new brand.
