Namia River Retreat: a tranquil wellness-inclusive resort inspired by Vietnamese Herbology on a river islet in Hoi An - Opening December
Nestled on the Cồn Ba Xã Islet in Hoi An, Namia River Retreat is thoughtfully crafted with genuine cultural journeys and wellness-inclusive therapies inspired by Vietnamese herbology. With 100% private pool villas, locally inspired dining experiences and stunning pools with Thu Bon River views, the resort opens new ways to explore and connect with the lantern-lit ancient town of Hoi An. The wellness lifestyle philosophy is woven throughout the resort, offering accessible options for everyone—whether you're just starting your wellness journey or looking for a deeper immersion. All resort guests can enjoy an inclusive 90-minute well-being journey per person, per night consisting of: Herbal remedy prescription in the apothecary 30-minute herbal hammam using locally sourced herbs 60-minute traditional therapy CULTURAL WELLBEING The spa and wellbeing concept has a distinct Vietnamese story and is inspired by Thuốc Nam (Southern Herbology). This traditional practice in Vietnam relies entirely on native ingredients, used in their fresh state or simply dried. These healing folk remedies have been passed down from generation to generation and infused throughout the spa experience. Start your day with the morning Dưỡng Sinh at the poolside. This is an indigenous breathing and yoga exercise similar to Tai Chi, popularised in Vietnam by the historian Nguyễn Khắc Viện. The herbal hammam experience is inspired by the Vietnamese herbal steam therapy Xông Hơi and the herbs used are found in the southern folk steaming remedies. Namia River Retreat has worked closely with a local herbal doctor to develop exclusive hammam herbal prescriptions.  All therapies have been selected and thoughtfully designed to help guests restore balance using an authentic Vietnamese touch. In collaboration with traditional practitioners, healing masters and Vietnamese schools, the resort has curated an inspired menu to showcase the power of these local treatments.  As a highlight, the signature treatment of Namia is the Diện Chẩn, an oriental facial reflexology technique based on the oriental philosophy developed by Professor Bùi Quốc Ch'u, a Vietnamese acupuncturist during the 1980s. Using custom tools, pressure is applied to points to balance yin and yang in the body and activate energy flow and healing support. In addition, other therapies such as Vietnamese massage, cupping, moxi combustion, and acupressure are also available. “Our hope is to support Vietnamese Southern Herbology and Vietnamese Traditional Medicine to garner the same international recognition and trust in the therapeutic benefits, as with Indian, Chinese, Thai or Balinese therapies,” says Michelle Ford, General Manager at the resort and founder of Lumina Wellbeing, the hotel and spa operator driving the project’s vision.  Photo credits: Namia River Retreat PRESCRIPTIVE WELLNESS PATHWAYS The spa and wellness program has been designed to support a deeper level of relaxation to de-stress the body and ease the mind. There are 2 distinct pathways to enjoy under the complimentary wellness-inclusive offer, tailored to your self-assessment or preferred goals during your stay:  Deep Rest Pathway: unwinding the mind and ideal for stress relief, sleep improvement, mood boosting, and mindfulness Body Balance Pathway: easing body tension including pain relief, reducing inflammation, and improving circulation “As breakfast is included in your stay to enjoy on your holiday, we believe these 90 minutes of self-care for your body and mind daily are equally essential. Since it’s included, we’ve taken away the guilt factor. This inspires our wellness-inclusive movement that we believe will be a standard expectation in the future”, says Emilie Chanon, Wellness Development Director of Lumina Wellbeing, who has also previously been recognised as Global Spa Leader of the Year in the World Spa & Wellness Awards. Should guests wish to opt for an all-inclusive wellness retreat, the Ritual for Release retreat prioritises detoxing the body with food, and emotional easing with energy healing, while boosting vital energy with activating yoga and meditation practices, all under the guidance of a personal Vietnamese wellness practitioner. MINDFUL MOMENTS & RITUALS Wellbeing rituals are offered throughout the day, beginning with morning movement practices and a variety of yoga and meditation classes. To conclude your day, enjoy in-room rituals like a mugwort and cajeput bath soak. The resort encourages guests to slow down. The team practices a mindful approach daily, inviting guests to engage in various offerings. Mindful moments include a silent walking meditation inspired by Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh.

Park Hyatt Changsha designed by Conran and Partners
Conran and Partners has completed the design of Park Hyatt’s new outpost in the city of Changsha, China. The hotel occupies the top floors of a tower originally built as office space, and it features 230 guestrooms across 11 different typologies, as well as communal areas including a restaurant, tearoom, bar, library, function rooms and wellness facilities with a 25-metre pool perched on the 48th floor. Park Hyatt Changsha Guests are welcomed via a courtyard sitting on a podium on the fourth floor, where Conran and Partners created a definite boundary that signifies the beginning of the Park Hyatt experience – a natural oasis in the heart of Changsha. Conran and Partners was also tasked with creating new cladding and a canopy for the tower as well as designing an elegant extension connecting the main building to the Garden Room – an external pavilion for indoor and outdoor functions. The architectural elements are tightly interwoven with the landscape developed in collaboration with landscape designers ADI. As guests transition into the internal spaces, the soaring ceiling heights, magnified by linear slats and large-scale art installations, are sectioned into a more intimate series of spaces leading guests to lifts and function areas. Ascending to the 62nd floor, a green leather-clad ante-space creates a feeling of intimacy before emerging into the contrasting scale of the check-in area. The double-height space with detailed timber panelling features a dramatic chandelier by Lasvit inspired by the famous local fireworks and a woven metal paravent screen that reflects the welcoming and celebratory nature of the city. The communal spaces are designed as an enfilade of flexible rooms called ‘Lilan’, set around a central service area. Central to these spaces is the Sun Room, another double-height space celebrating the juxtaposition of grandeur set against more intimate spaces which surround it. The Tea Room and Library, which sit on opposite sides of the Sun Room, have their own distinct personality but also double as overflow for Lilan’s bar and restaurant respectively. Opposite the communal areas is a series of eight private dining rooms, a one-of-a-kind restaurant where every seat is the best seat in the house. Park Hyatt Changsha The communal spaces culminate on the 63rd floor with three large function rooms designed to evoke the feeling of stepping into a grand residential penthouse with a Sky Kitchen designed to subtly reflect the details found in Chinese joinery. On the 48th floor, Conran and Partners created a spacious wellness area complete with a gym, wet spa, sauna, pool and an intimate members’ lounge. The arrival into the wellness area is designed to create an immediate feeling of calm. Continuing the theme of serenity in nature, the dramatic pool uses natural stone and timber finishes offset with large-scale indoor planting. The guestrooms are the ultimate sanctuary perched high above the city sights below. Staying true to the overall design concept, the palette is restrained with residential-inspired elements including elegant green silk screens around the bed and custom-designed pendant lighting, juxtaposed by the bold colours of the furniture. The jewel in the crown, the Presidential Suite, spans 270sqm with views over Xiangjiang River and includes a private living room, dining room and powder room. The overall design is inspired by the vibrancy of Changsha and the fashionable IFS mall which the hotel sits on, whilst capturing the spirit of the stunning Hunan landscape with soaring volumes, organic forms and a raw expression of nature through natural materials and local craft. Tina Norden, Principal at Conran and Partners, commented: “Having previously collaborated with Park Hyatt in Jakarta and Auckland, our goal for the new Changsha outpost was to craft its own true ‘sense of place’—a home that is both fashionable and reflective of the city’s dynamic essence, as well as a celebration of the natural wonders of the Hunan region. By blending clean architectural lines, both in the interiors and in the courtyard architecture, with eclectic elements, we’ve created a destination where modern luxury meets the rich tapestry of Changsha’s local culture.”

An 18-hole mini golf course, driving range, clubhouse, soccer field, tennis court, running track and organic sustainable farm are among The Anam Cam Ranh’s new collection of lush beachfront facilities promoting wellbeing. The Anam Cam Ranh Spanning 1700sqm, the new 18-hole mini golf course is adjacent to the new 500sqm driving range and pavilion-style clubhouse. The contoured mini golf course is believed to be the first of its kind in Southeast Asia, due to its real grass finishing that the resort’s gardeners painstakingly maintain. The new soccer field sports striped dark and light green grass and is already proving popular with football-obsessed Vietnamese and international guests. The tennis court, fenced by thick greenery, has been fully revamped. Manned by staff ready to assist with golf equipment, tennis rackets, tennis and soccer balls, towels, water and other refreshments, the open-air clubhouse marks the start and finish of the new circular running track. Flanked by greenery, the track stretches for 1.5km around the resort’s recently opened organic sustainable farm and various recreation facilities such as the soccer field. The Anam Cam Ranh The 8500sqm sustainable farm is dedicated to cultivating an array of vegetables, fruits, herbs, and eggs for meals for guests and staff. Chefs incorporate fresh, organic ingredients – such as morning glory, malabar spinach, corn, mustard green, wild betel leaves, and chicken and duck eggs – in meals served to Lang Viet Restaurant & Bar’s diners as well as at the staff kitchen. In addition to ducks and chickens, the farm is home to an abundance of geese, rabbits, goats, guinea fowls, turkeys and peacocks and their offspring. Children interact with the friendly animals during a supervised program to learn about sustainable farming. Describing it as “such a reinvigorating place to be due to its vivid greenery and dramatic mountain backdrop”, The Anam Group’s group general manager Laurent Myter encouraged guests to make the most of the “vast and verdant” new precinct that debuted this month. “Take a stroll or light jog, tee off at the new driving range and mini golf course sans plastic grass and kitsch windmills, kick a soccer ball, wield a tennis racket or rummage through our sustainable farm … or, better still, do it all!” he said. The mini golf course and driving range are open daily from 9am – 5pm. The fee for playing the 18-hole golf course is 200,000 VND per round per person, 300,000 VND per round for two people, and 500,000 VND per round for four to five people, including equipment and shoes. The driving range costs 100,000 VND per hour for 100 balls. Access to the tennis court before 6pm is free, and priced at 250,000 VND per hour after 6pm. Access to the precinct’s other facilities is complimentary for guests. For further information or to make a booking, visit www.theanam.com, email info.cr@theanam.com or telephone +(84) 258 398 9499.
